This story comes after several students reported incidents of unwanted hazing that occurred when they were trying to celebrate their 1st-year matriculation.

This has been an Oxford tradition for centuries, however, some students believe this is an insight into certain toxic cultures at the university, which celebrate hazing, harassment, and cultural hierarchies.

The Student Group "Oxfordians against Hazing" has lobbied the University's welfare department to investigate this kind of culture at the university, and gained a significant victory in this case, by tearing down a symbol of what some may perceive as its hazing culture.
